Overview

Campus Facility Services (CFS) is proud to provide IU Indianapolis students, faculty, staff, and visitors with a high-quality physical environment. We provide maintenance, grounds, and custodial services for more than 70 buildings and parking garages and over 300 acres of lawns, trees, plantings, sidewalks, and parking lots. Responsibilities
  • Writes and installs building automation system (BAS) upgrades. Performs audits and corrective and preventive maintenance pertaining to control systems, software, and associated control devices to ensure systems are running correctly and efficiently.
  • Performs diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of air handling units (AHUs), including direct digital control (DDC), pneumatic instrumentation, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and controlled equipment. Maintains, operates, calibrates, monitors, and repairs lab controls and all HVAC equipment pertaining to the BAS and related control devices including software systems.
  • Provides support to the zone maintenance staff in the field through troubleshooting and analysis of building automation systems. Oversees zone HVAC and BAS recommission efforts, project planning, and implementation.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation for emergency campus response.
  • Performs other building systems and maintenance as needed.
  • Drives vehicle if needed.
Education / Work Experience
  • Associate's degree in electronics/technical field with 2 years of verifiable experience servicing mechanical, electrical, and digital electronic controls; OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) with 5 years of verifiable work experience servicing mechanical, electrical, and digital electronic controls.
Preferred
  • Some DOL apprenticeship experience in relevant trade.
Licenses and Certificates
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.
  • License in pneumatic, electric, mechanical, electronic, or DDCs (preferred).

  • Demonstrated competency in instrument systems technology including mechanics, electrical, and software technology; experience with electronics, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and/or schematics.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations, or ordinances.
  • Ability to work both individually and in a team environment.
  • Ability to use a computer and work in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to utilize computer-based tools for reports, email, and general communication.
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.

This role regularly requires effective communication, handling equipment, remaining stationary, and ascending/descending ladders or stairs. It requires the ability to move objects up to 25 pounds, detect details, and have good depth perception. The role must be performed with or without accommodation.
