Trades Assistant Position ID: 3682 | 5 openings | On-site – Silverdale, WA Purpose Valkyrie Enterprises seeks multiple Trades Assistants to support skilled maintenance trades including Electrician, Welding, Pipefitting, Brazing, Universal A/C&R Mechanic, Riggers, sheet metal workers, and painters/specialized coating applicators. Job Description Assist skilled maintenance trades such as cable pulling, electrical connection box wiring, cable way management, paint, lagging, grinding, and cutting. Perform specific or general duties of lesser skill such as cleaning working area, machine, and equipment and performing other unskilled tasks as directed. Tasks vary. Perform maintenance and minor repairs to various electrical equipment and machines under supervision. Assist in receipt and inventory of material, tools, and equipment. Position may require ability to perform specialized machine operations. Qualifications Must have a High School diploma and 0 years of experience in the field is required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively. Must have experience with basic hand tools. Desired Qualifications Knowledge and experience in shipyard operations and NAVSEA standards is preferred. Trade School completion or participation is preferred. Ability to obtain a passport is preferred. Security Requirements Must be able to obtain and maintain access to private/public shipyards and Naval installations. Must have a valid driver's license and ability to maintain a Driver's license. Travel Requirements Up to 50% travel nationwide to include international travel as needed. If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements Position requires candidate to regularly lift up to 35 lbs. Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 20 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
