Job Description Join the HII Mission Technologies team. Mission Technologies works in the only shipyard to execute the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of a nuclear‑powered aircraft carrier. The mid‑life RCOH includes refueling of nuclear reactors, overhauling most machinery, and modernizing warfare systems. We are seeking a Trades Assistant to support the RCOH CEMAT Mechanical Group conducting maintenance, repairs, installation and testing of non‑nuclear equipment. Essential Job Responsibilities Assist trades team by working on active class surface ships to assist with alterations and installations for fleet modernization. Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on shipboard systems, integrated systems, and related equipment/software onboard aircraft carriers. Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions. Perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license and own hand tools. Ability to follow safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment. Ability to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment. Ability to provide hand tools per trade designation. Must be a U.S. citizen. Preferred Requirements Graduation from or completion of a vocational school, apprenticeship program or a skilled trades certificate program. Candidate with a current or active DoD clearance. Candidate with a current OSHA 10 Maritime Certification. Candidate with a NAVSEA Cableway Improvement certification. Candidate with previous multi‑pin connector experience. Previous knowledge of Navy Tag Out program, NSTM 300, and 3M manual. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes no less than 30 lbs. Work at and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Perform other duties that may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Travel may be required within and outside the continental United States.
