We are seeking a detail-oriented and accuracy-driven Staff Accountant to join a Software Company in San Francisco. This contract-to-permanent role offers the opportunity to manage essential accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, expense management, and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance and supporting international operations. The role is onsite.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the general ledger, prepare and reconcile journal entries, and support month-end and year-end close processes. Ensure compliance for international operations in Canada and Mexico.
• Oversee and process payroll, including commissions and benefits reporting. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while serving as liaison between HR and Finance.
• Review, process, and approve vendor invoices and employee expense reports, maintaining internal controls and ensuring timely, accurate disbursements.
• Assist with audits, forecasting, and preparation of financial statements. Ensure adherence to US GAAP and regulatory requirements and recommend improvements to accounting policies and procedures.
• Respond to financial inquiries, research and interpret data, and provide clear explanations. Stay informed on tax laws and assist with tax filings and audits as needed.

Requirements:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in core accounting functions, including general ledger management and payroll compliance.
• Proficiency with accounting and payroll systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online, ADP Workforce Now) and advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information discreetly.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills; capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
