Safety Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Construction Safety Officer to oversee and enforce safety protocols on active construction sites in Rochester, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety, hands on knowledge of OSHA regulations, and proven experience with safety training and compliance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans and policies in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Conduct daily site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel.
• Investigate and report all incidents, near misses, and safety violations; recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and compliance reports.
• Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and contractors to foster a culture of safety.
• Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce proper safety practices.

Qualifications:

• OSHA 10 and 30 certifications required.
• HAZWOPER certification strongly preferred.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of construction safety experience.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and best practices.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence safe behaviors on site.
• Ability to conduct training and deliver effective safety presentations.
• Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and reporting skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience on large-scale commercial or institutional construction projects
• Familiarity with risk assessment and incident investigation software/tools.
