The Registered Nurse in Medical-Surgical Acute Care assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for acute patients from admission through discharge. They provide expert clinical care, patient education, act as advocates, and lead assistive personnel while managing patient loads efficiently. This role requires specialized knowledge in nursing procedures, disease processes, pharmacology, and involves shift work including weekends.

Status/FTE: PT / 0.4-0.6 FTE
Shift length: 12 hours
Start Time: 1900
Unit: Acute Care
Schedule Requirements (including weekends, holidays): Two (2) 12-hour shifts per week. Every third weekend

The RN utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care of acute patients from admission to the department through discharge or transfer. Provides expert care and education to patients in the clinical setting, acts as a patient advocate, leader, and mentor for assistive personnel. Knowledgeable in clinical nursing procedures, disease processes, interventions, and pharmacological agents. Manages patient loads in assigned timelines.
