Position: Health Information Management Director - Hospital
Status: Full Time
The Health Information Management (HIM) Director oversees all aspects of the healthcare organizations health information department. This position will ensure accuracy, accessibility and security of protected health information and compliance with all federal and state regulations. This role involves the management of electronic health records, coding, patient privacy and operations of the Medical Records Department.
Responsibilities
• Leading and managing the HIM department
• Ensuring accuracy, completeness and accessibility of PHI.
• Overseeing the coding and abstracting of patient records for accuracy and timely completion
• Clinical Documentation Improvement
• Department Policy and Procedure
• Departmental goals for highest achievement
• Training and guidance to HIM staff on best practice and regulatory changes
• Department compliance with federal and state regulation, medical staff bylaws and any other regulatory agency as applicable.
• Plans and implements quality and production of departmental functions to best support patient care and hospital needs
• Provides training and support to staff where applicable and appropriate
• Works collaboratively with physicians, department managers and other healthcare providers to achieve department and hospital goals
• Department policies and procedures
• Maintain confidentiality within HIPAA and any other regulated requirement

• Inpatient and outpatient coding
• HIPAA
Qualification and Education:
Graduate of an AHIMA accredited program with a Baccalaureate degree in Science and Medical Record Administration or higher.
Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role with experience in healthcare compliance
Certification:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required. Certification must be current and in good standing through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Travel Requirements:
This position may require weekly overnight travel.
