The Email and Marketing Operations Lead is key in advancing Rocky Mountain Public Media (RMPM)'s mission by optimizing and streamlining our digital marketing processes, tech stack, and data-driven initiatives in conjunction with internal teams as well as external partners and vendors. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency of campaign execution, enhancing marketing technology stack capabilities, and driving data integrity and compliance. This position supports the Marketing & Media Relations, Friends, and Membership teams and works collaboratively across other teams within the organization. The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented professional with strong writing skills, analytical abilities, attention to detail, organization, and a passion for public media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Email and Marketing Operations Lead collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to improve email impact across the entire user lifecycle in one-off emails, campaigns, segmented emails, and planned journeys. As a key member of the Marketing & Media Relations team, you'll play a critical role in driving email strategy, segmentation, experimentation, and execution-helping our friends get the most out of the offerings from Rocky Mountain Public Media and all of its stations; Rocky Mountain PBS, KUVO JAZZ, and THE DROP 104.7 - eventually moving our friends toward membership.

Key Responsibilities:

Email

  • Build Pre- and Post-Launch Campaigns and Flows: Lead the creation and deployment of launch campaigns, lifecycle automations, and content flows for Rocky Mountain Public Media and its stations. You'll map out the customer journey pre-launch and post-capture, ensuring every message is personalized, timely, and conversion optimized.
  • Brand Messaging: You'll lead content strategy for email, contribute copywriting when needed, and ensure alignment across channels to support cohesive, compelling storytelling.
  • Launch with a Performance Mindset: Set and deliver against channel-specific KPIs (open/click rates, conversion rate, etc.) for each brand. You'll balance brand-building with performance marketing to ensure retention channels contribute meaningfully to organizational goals.
  • Use Data to Drive Decisions: Monitor reporting dashboards and track performance for all initiatives. You'll analyze data and campaign results to inform segmentation, content strategies, and tactical decisions-constantly optimizing for growth. You'll share with others, explain insights, and share how it affects future work.
  • Own Segmentation and Personalization: Develop intelligent audience segmentation strategies that align with brand positioning and product launches. You'll tailor messaging by behavior, lifecycle stage, and channel to improve engagement, conversion, and retention.
  • Run Experiments to Learn and Scale: Use A/B testing to refine subject lines, send times, creative assets, copy, and incentives-learning what works and scaling winners quickly to maximize retention and revenue.
  • Manage Campaign Execution End-to-End: Coordinate timelines, briefs, and content across internal teams and stakeholders. You'll lead campaign project management from ideation through analysis, ensuring all assets are delivered on time and at high quality.
  • Email Service Provider: Be the subject matter and technical expert within the ESP and work closely with the external tech stack provider to utilize and manage infrastructure and integrations in conjunction with internal teammates-ensuring a seamless tech foundation to support data collection, automation, and performance tracking.
  • Identify and Scale Growth Opportunities: Continuously identify new retention levers across email and other marketing channels-developing strategies to improve engagement, drive membership and retention, and build brand advocates.

Team and Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Marketing & Media Relations Team: Actively participate in team meetings, communication, processes, activities, and initiatives to work collaboratively on initiatives, projects, campaigns, and toward organizational goals; this might include copywriting, creative support, project management, and marketing operations
  • Friends, and Membership Teams: Work across these teams to establish email journeys taking people from unknown or new to a welcomed friend to a member
  • Cross-team and stations: Work with and across each station and its teams within the organization on execution of email needs, content inclusion, follow-up, strategy, metrics and analysis to support in their learning, understanding, and planning.

Minimum Qualifications of Position

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in email and lifecycle marketing at a business to consumer organization
  • Experience in HTML and CSS for email, with strong attention to email QA and rendering across devices.
  • Proficiency with email tools like Parcel.io, Litmus, Iterable, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Campaign Monitor, or similar and with marketing automation platforms.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, tracking, data analysis and interpretation tools, Google Tag Manager, and conversion
  • Demonstrated understanding of email marketing best practices, including segmentation, personalization, accessibility, and compliance.
  • Project management skills-you're comfortable juggling multiple requests and deadlines across a wide range of teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to explain technical work to non-technical teammates.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable MVR; must be insurable for driving station vehicles.
