Job Description

Job Summary The Biomedical Engineer plans, trains others, and installs, maintains and repairs sophisticated medical equipment and systems utilized in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. Essential Responsibilities Work under the supervision of a manager or designee, performing all phases of scheduled and corrective repairs of biomedical equipment and medical systems. Perform pre‑issue and asset accounting, equipment installation and de‑installation as needed. Carry out scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance and electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment to maintain code compliance. Document the results of all inspections, maintenance and tests. Collaborate with other biomedical engineering specialties, KPIT, Business Partners, and OEM representatives. Complete applicable documentation of all work performed in a timely manner. Travel frequently for shared services/support biomed engineers to provide service support. Occasional travel required for Stationary Service Area Support biomed engineers. Attend technical training sessions as required. Perform after‑hours work on a scheduled or unscheduled basis as needed. Serve on weekday and weekend on‑call schedules for emergency service. Maintain communication devices on during duty hours. Basic Qualifications Experience Minimum four (4) years of formal and/or on‑the‑job training. Education High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED). License, Certification, Registration Driver's License (California). Additional Requirements Good driving record. Experience and working knowledge of medical equipment and systems in the general instrumentation or assigned specialty area. Willingness to work extended hours. Proficiency operating PCs with Windows operating systems. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent in electronics, physics, or related science.
