A Day in the Life In this onsite role, you will contribute to the development, testing, and analysis of Leads, Catheters, Devices, and Instruments for cardiac pacing therapies and defibrillation solutions. The position is in the Mechanical Test and Analysis Lab. Our Cardiac Rhythm Management Operating Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure. Our Cardiac Rhythm Management Operating Unit is comprised of four key businesses: Cardiac Pacing Therapies, Defibrillation Solutions, Patient Management, and Procedure Innovations. Responsibilities Contribute to the development of design solutions that address broad development problems involving leads, catheters, and cardiac devices Develop new test methods, measurement techniques, and fixtures Organize, prepare, and present technical information material in a clear, effective and skillful manner to management, marketing, clinicians, and regulators Direct the activities of junior employees and technicians to ensure project milestones are completed correctly and on schedule Analyze test results using software tools such as Minitab, JMP, or MATLAB Understand when and how to apply statistical techniques, such as distribution or regression fitting with confidence intervals, to interpret test results for design, reliability, and manufacturing partners Identify the root causes of failures and propose design or process improvements to enhance performance and reliability Proactively manage deliverables on a geographically diverse, cross-functional team and provide regular updates to both project and functional management Be responsive to changes in work direction and develop creative plans for meeting aggressive business milestones Requirements Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR advanced degree Nice to Haves Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Material Science Knowledge of cardiac lead, catheter and device design, processing, and material property testing, including fatigue Hands on experience with TA Instruments and/or Instron electromechanical fatigue test frames Proficiency with CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks Familiarity of FEA software and design optimization techniques Knowledge of FDA and MDR regulations Physical Job Requirements The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$84,000.00 - $126,000.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired in the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
