Overview SUMMARY Design and conduct all aspects of research and provide scientific input into the research process in the field of low-level blast environment characterization. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Participate in all aspects of research to include study design and overseeing, collecting, managing, processing, analyzing, and reporting data. Approach novel analytical problems with effective and appropriate solutions. Prepare briefings, technical reports, and manuscripts for publication in professional journals. Responsible for directing and guiding research staff and study participants. Communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner with research staff and study participants. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, biomedical engineering, engineering, or related field, or relevant work experience. Master’s preferred. Advanced programming skills in SAS, MATLAB, C, C+, C++, Java, VBA. Must be able to obtain HSPD-12 clearance (US Citizenship Required). Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks. Desired Qualifications & Skills Military experience is a plus. Experience in a blast research setting actively involved in study design, or equivalent experience a plus. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, problem-solve, and coordinate daily activities to support effective improvement in individual patients. Strong leadership/management skills. Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and ability to use basic office automation and information management equipment and programs (i.e., word processing, database management, email, etc.). Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements. Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills. Work Schedule Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project. Travel Travel to various research sites within and outside of the United States. Valid passport required. The expected travel time is less than 25%. Driving Requirements Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%. Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a clinical setting. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities. Physical Demands Be capable of lifting and moving of equipment weighting up to 30 pounds and withstand prolonged periods of bending, reaching, moving about, or standing. Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage.
