2025-2026 Mentor Coordinator and Elementary Instructional Coach - January 2026 Start Date Job Title: Mentor Coordinator and Elementary Instructional Coach District: Socorro Consolidated Schools Reports To: Assistant Superintendent Job Summary: The Instructional Coach is a teacher leader who works collaboratively with teachers to improve instructional practices and enhance student learning outcomes across the K-12 spectrum. The Instructional Coach provides job‑embedded professional development, coaching, and support to teachers, focusing on evidence‑based instructional strategies, data analysis, and the implementation of district initiatives, including the Board adopted goals and guardrails. Essential Functions Collaborates with teachers to analyze student data, identify instructional needs, and set goals for improvement. Provides individualized coaching and support to teachers, including modeling effective instructional strategies, co‑planning lessons, observing classroom instruction, and providing feedback (Observation & Feedback Cycles). Assists and supports teachers in the implementation of research‑based instructional practices and strategies, the effective use of technology to enhance instruction and student learning. Supports the development and implementation of formative and summative assessments. Differentiates instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Provides guidance on the MLSS process. Plains and delivers a New Teacher Institute prior to the start of the school year, focusing on Classroom Management, Elevate NM evaluation system and the 4 teaching domains, Curriculum logins and logistic tools. Provides one‑on‑one mentor with all new Elementary teachers in the district, including ongoing regular meetings with formal documentation in mentor logs. Observation & feedback cycles, classroom co‑teaching & modeling. Provides support to Alternative Licensure Teachers (including PRAXIS), Level 1 teachers completing Microcredentials and teachers on support plans. Creates and maintains records of completed mentorship programs for the District, including a log of completed mentorships, and communicates completion of the mentoring program to the Personnel Department. Supports site‑based mentor teachers with training, resources, and strategies. Supports the implementation of district curriculum, instructional programs, and initiatives. Supports professional learning communities (PLCs) and other collaborative structures. Works collaboratively with school site Principals and Structured Literacy Coaches. Acts as the district LETRS Course manager, completing all aspects of NMPED required training, teacher enrollment, onboarding, support, and monitoring of stipend arrangements and materials orders. Works with school and district leaders to analyze student data and identify areas for school‑wide instructional improvement. Acts as curriculum liaison to the District office for inventory and ordering. Maintains confidentiality and builds trusting relationships with teachers. Stays current on educational research, best practices, and trends. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education Valid New Mexico teaching license. Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience. Demonstrated expertise in evidence‑based instructional practices and strategies, including structured literacy. Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and data analysis. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with adult learners. Knowledge of technology and its integration into instruction. Experience in designing and delivering professional development. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to facilitate change. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction or other related field. National Board Certification. Experience as an instructional coach or mentor teacher. Knowledge of Multi‑Layered System of Support (MLSS). Experience within the Dufour model of Professional Learning Communities (PLC). Experience with specific instructional programs or initiatives (e.g., Professional Learning). Experience working with historically underserved populations, including English Language Learners, economically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities, and others. Skills / Abilities Strong knowledge of pedagogy and instructional theory. Proficiency in analyzing student data to inform instructional decisions. Ability to model effective teaching strategies. Skill in providing constructive feedback to teachers. Ability to facilitate collaborative learning. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues. Proficiency in the use of technology for instruction and communication. Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively. Additional days as needed in the summer will be paid at the employee’s daily rate. Working Conditions and Physical Effort Standing, 60%; Inside, 95%; Walking, 35%; Other, 5% (Total: 100%). Vision and hearing demands: Normal night vision, corrected vision as needed. Hearing essentially normal, some high tone loss, significant high tone loss, low tone loss. Corrected hearing as required. Salary: This position will be paid in accordance with the Teacher Salary Schedule at Socorro Consolidated Schools. The district provides all OSHA required training.
